China Visa Photo Specifications
Your visa application photo must meet strict requirements. Here are the official specifications:
Photo Dimensions
- Size: 33mm wide × 48mm high
- Head size: 15mm to 22mm from chin to crown (top of head)
- Head position: Centered, facing forward
Background & Quality
- Background: Pure white, no patterns or shadows
- Color: Full color photo (black & white not accepted)
- Quality: Clear, sharp, no ink marks, creases, or stains
- Age: Taken within the last 6 months
Facial Requirements
- Expression: Neutral, mouth closed, eyes open and visible
- No smiling (slight smile acceptable but neutral preferred)
- No headwear except for religious reasons (ears must be visible)
- No glasses (if possible; if worn, must not cause glare or obscure eyes)
- Hair: Must not cover face, especially eyebrows and ears
Common Reasons for Rejection
- Incorrect photo size
- Non-white or patterned background
- Facial features obscured (hair, glasses, shadows)
- Photo too old (more than 6 months)
- Printed on low-quality or glossy paper
- Digital alteration or filters applied
Tips
- Get your photo taken at a professional photo studio that knows Chinese visa requirements
- Digital photos should be at least 354×472 pixels
- File format: JPG/JPEG
- File size: 40KB to 120KB
