China Visa Photo Specifications

Your visa application photo must meet strict requirements. Here are the official specifications:

Photo Dimensions

• Size: 33mm wide × 48mm high
• Head size: 15mm to 22mm from chin to crown (top of head)
• Head position: Centered, facing forward

Background & Quality

• Background: Pure white, no patterns or shadows
• Color: Full color photo (black & white not accepted)
• Quality: Clear, sharp, no ink marks, creases, or stains
• Age: Taken within the last 6 months

Facial Requirements

• Expression: Neutral, mouth closed, eyes open and visible
• No smiling (slight smile acceptable but neutral preferred)
• No headwear except for religious reasons (ears must be visible)
• No glasses (if possible; if worn, must not cause glare or obscure eyes)
• Hair: Must not cover face, especially eyebrows and ears

Common Reasons for Rejection

1. Incorrect photo size
2. Non-white or patterned background
3. Facial features obscured (hair, glasses, shadows)
4. Photo too old (more than 6 months)
5. Printed on low-quality or glossy paper
6. Digital alteration or filters applied

Tips

• Get your photo taken at a professional photo studio that knows Chinese visa requirements
• Digital photos should be at least 354×472 pixels
• File format: JPG/JPEG
• File size: 40KB to 120KB
